Reese Witherspoon / STAR HAIR STYLE

Drawing inspiration from the hair style trends of our favorite stars and celebrities has become a national pass time. One such star whose hair style is emulated by young women around the globe is Hollywood sweet heart Reese Witherspoon. This Southern Bell knows how to walk the style line” in a stylish grown up way. Her million dollar smile, adorable dimples and “legally blonde” hair color is irresistible to men attracted to the feminine Southern Bell type and quiet the catch for those dudes that go for all things blond.

TO GET THE LOOK:  Are you up for a colorful ultra feminine color and style?  If that’s the case, take a hair styling lesson from Reese Witherspoon. Her blonde sometimes straight and wavy locks with side-swept bangs frame her heart shaped face perfectly. This Southern Bell hairdo’ is a “show stopper”. So be prepared to stop men dead in their tracks when you strut by with your “legally blonde” hair style. To get the look, let’s take it one step at a time; starting with a style cut and shaping.

LET'S SHAPE IT:  To get the look, start with a shoulder length or longer silhouette with full or side swept brow bangs and face framing layer’s starting just below the chin. This versatile style gives you both a dressy or casual look and complements most face shapes, especially those with angular features like Reese’s. With a few adjustments (trims & tweaks) as it grows you can find the ideal length for your face shape, features and style.

LET'S STYLE IT:  For style support, start with a puff of your favorite styling mousse or spray gel or nothing at all.  Comb either through damp hair, tip your head forward and give it a quick tousle with your blow dry for shape and volume. After, if your locks look a bit dry or frizzy, a dab of styling cream will tame it. For a dressy look, a quick turn around a large barrel styling iron or a handful of jumbo rollers and a light brushing or finger comb and your good to go. To turn up the glam, add earrings, glossy lip stick, eye liner and shadow, a square tip French manicure and you’ve got Reese Witherspoon’s star style.

NOW, LETS COLOR IT:
Actress’s change their hair color often for the many roles they play and Reese’s is no exception. To equalizes the hair's porosity for even color absorption and repair previously damaged protein bonds, one ounce of Colorful Neutral Protein Filler is added to a warm pale golden blonde high lift dye to prevent premature fading and assure long lasting hair color results.

For a bit more pizzazz, Flaxen blonde highlights and contrasting Nutmeg low lights are sprinkled around the face with a foil weaving technique. After a clear glaze seals-in the color and turns up the shine. To keep the blonde hue fresh and vibrant a "Colorful Neutral Protein Filler" is used weekly. This colorful work of art will cost a few extra Paso’s but it’s a small price to pay for a long lasting color all the attention you’ll get. After all, aren’t you worth it?

Reese Witherspoon’s colorful style is a work of art and a thing of beauty. This versatile ultra-feminine do’ is perfect for your “time challenged” life style. All it takes is a quick tousle with your blow dry, a few turns around your styling iron for a causal look or a handful of jumbo rollers and you’re ready for any occasion. The long lasing warm golden blonde hue and face framing highlights let’s everyone know this stunning blonde is not one of those out of the box “home color jobs”.  So be prepared for your friends to scream OMG your so glam and that special someone’s heart to skip a beat when you show up with this “legally blonde Southern Bell color and style. The Iconic Pompadour

The Pompadour is an all-time classic hairstyle that was actually named after the mistress of King Louis XV, Madame de Pompadour. After being adopted by fashionable women in the 18th century, versions of it remained a female dominated style called the Bouffant in the early 50's and 60's.

Pompadour hair style for men was popular during the 1920's.  The traditional men's Pompadour  was styled by sweeping the hair upwards and away from the face, often worn slick with swept back sides held in place with Pomade. In the late 1950's Elvis Presley made a version of the Pompadour  his signature look and the rest, as they say, is history. Still considered a classic rockabilly / rock ‘n’ roll inspired hairstyle due to this connection and was made even more popular by music and movie stars of this period.

The Classic 1920's Pompadour has evolved dramatically since the full swept back Elvis Presley look.  The up dated version is styled with extra length through the top sometimes with a high part while keeping the back and sides tapered close to the head. Its a lot more flexible than you would first imagine and can suit many hair types although the extreme versions of the cut needs to be taken into consideration –  as the end result should complement not only your personal style, but the head shape and facial features as well.

If you want to keep your style classic and refined, the back and sides need to be clipper cut, but not so short that it exposes too much of the scalp. Ideally, the edges should be tapered really tight while maintaining some length throughout the haircut. Tapering around the edges not only strengthens the overall head shape but also adds a rugged / masculine look for those that sport a close or full beard.

For those with long narrow face shapes keeping length through the sides will add width and help maintain a balance between the top and sides. For a timeless aesthetic and a slightly fuller result, avoid taking the clippers to close and beyond the curve of the head. Alternatively, if you want a extreme look take the sides higher to disconnect the top and sides.

For a creative take on the Pompadour clipper the sides close with a number one grade. You could also consider opting for a skin fade (no grade on the clipper) where the base of the haircut begins. The hair should be clipper cut really high into the curve of the head, keeping more length through the top section. This can be worn connected into the crown or completely disconnected, allowing the hair to stand up or hang below the crown area (think undercut hairstyles).

Choosing the right length for your face shape is important. If you have a round face wear the sides tighter and allow more volume on top will help elongate your face. If your face is narrow keep a little more length for fullness through the sides and wear the top slicker and closer to your head.

If your the creative artistic type and want to make your Pompadour standout from the crowd a splash of color will do the trick.  Adding hair color also gives the hair extra body and style support making styling a snap.  This may cost a few extra bucks but is well for the time and expense for all the attention your sure to get.

Pompadour hair styles complement most face shape and adds a up lifting youthful look to facial features for this reason many stars and celebrities over the years have sported versions of the Pompadour hair style. Today everyone from Bruno Mars to David Beckham have extremely different versions of this classic style. It just goes to prove how versatile a hair style the Pompadour has been.

To create a nice crisp finish with shine, apply a styling Pomade (for medium shine and hold) or stronger grooming / styling gel (for a stronger shine and hold) to towel dried hair. When working with high shine styling products, it’s important you start off with a small amount and work it into the hair – you can always add more if required.

For those that want more volume, try blow drying the hair – using your fingers or a multi action Flex Brush to lift and shape the hair into the direction you're  wear it. If required, you can apply another finishing product on top to create texture for a wet or dry look. To keep your style in shape, apply firm hold shaping finishing hairspray – especially if the top has been left with extra length.

So there you have it, the timeless and versatile Pompadour hairstyle. This classic style is set to become every more popular in the coming years. However, the one downfall of the close clipped Pompadour is that it can be an extremely high maintenance haircut to keep up. In order for it to look its very best, I would suggest having it trimmed every 3-4 of weeks.

What's Next for Salon Hair Care?

Over the past 50 years of my career I've seen many advancements in the professional beauty industry that have made major improvements. For example, Protein technology has made all of our hair care product more effective. Hair Coloring technology has made major steps forward with one step high lift tints and a wide range of amazing hair colorants. In addition to new Styling Tools like the thermal controlled curling and straightening irons, hot rollers, multi-functional styling brushes and ionic hair dryers combined with new creative styling and coloring techniques have turned professional hair styling into a "Living Art Form.

However, the one place the salon has not seen an improvement has been the Shampoo Bowl. Now you can Up-Grade your salon shampoo bowl with the new Barrage Collagen Jet Stream Spray System and give your clients the experience of a Collagen Salon Spa Hair Care Treatment. Just look at how it works and all it does for both salon and home hair and body care.

The power wash pressurized Jet Stream Spray ionized water shortens the rinsing process, feels good on the scalp and uses 65% less water.
The Jet Stream Spray quickly and thoroughly removes all traces of hair dye residue from the hair and scalp following coloring. The Collagen infused water seals in the color to help prevent premature fading for a long lasting vibrant healthy look.

Clean up your shampoo bowl tap water. The Barrage Ceramic ionic beads and fabric filter cleans the salon tap water removing all traces of Chlorine, Minerals and Odors making salon shampoo and hair treatments 100% more effective. Especially all  conditioners formulated with Collagen protein.
In addition the Barrage Micro-Pore Shower Plate creates a powerful jet stream spray to remove
all traces of shampoo and hair dye after coloring. This unique feature helps save water and leave the hair and scalp clean and ready for styling in seconds.

Besides removing chlorine and minerals from salon tap water the Barrage Power Wash Jet Stream Nozzle contains a built-in replaceable Collagen Protein Pad that adds hydrolyzed Marine Collagen Protein and Vitamin C to the purified water. This unique feature helps repair split ends and surface damage, remove tangles and seals in delicate hair color. The topically applied Marine Collagen and Vitamin C infused water noticeably improve the feel and appearance of hair and skin. Salon Suites Rental's VS Salon Chair Rental's

Booth Rental Salon Suites are popping up all over
Southern California following the lead of Salon Chair Rentals.

"Booth Salon Suites Rentals vs. Salon Chair Rentals" that is the question? Although Salon Suites offer privacy the  major problem I see with renting a small glass wall enclosed space like the new (salon suites concept) is that it can give some clients a totally Claustrophobic feeling.

On the other hand Salon Chair Rental's offers the salon client a entertaining atmosphere letting them see what other people are doing with their hair and fashions. And the stylists gets inspiration by seeing what other stylists are doing which is what's totally missing in the Salon Suite environment. Both due give stylists extra income, however Salon Chair Rentals are less costly over-all. And if you have a styling problem the other stylists are their to help you or cover for you when your on vacation.

Its interesting to note that early beauty salons (1900-1960) were design with enclosed booths like the salon suits. In the 1960 the salon booth's were replaced with the open floor concept and offered a entertaining atmosphere. Women enjoy seeing what others are doing and a salon Chair Rentals offer that and more.

Star Hairlines are Headlines

Celebrity hair loss is becoming an increasingly hot topic in the tabloid's. When Sir Elton John had his hairline filled-in the tabloids read; “Tonsorial Wizard Grows Hair on Rock Man”. Elton is perhaps the most famous hair transplant recipients. He underwent a series of replacement procedures after becoming fed-up with years of wearing toupees and wigs.

Hollywood heartthrob Mel Gibson had a decidedly thinning and receding hairline in recent years. Today he is the proud owner of a full head of hair. While Mel has not publicly admitted to having had a hair transplant, he is not the first celebrity to undergo this hush-hush procedure. Kevin Costner known for his movie star good looks has always had a thin head of hair. Not liking the way his thinning crown looked on film and spending thousands of dollars having it “digitally added” in the editing room Kevin is said to have settled for the real deal and had a hair restoration procedure.

Jokes about hair loss are as old as dirt, but not as old as rocks. Two comedians, Tom Arnold and Dennis Miller are the first to tell you they’ve had it done and that it was a “hair razing experience”. Both look much younger with thicker hair and lower hairline.

Known for their handsome boyish good looks both Mathew McConaughue and Jude Law showed early signs of hair loss. Both have spent thousands of dollars on hair loss treatments to slow the process. Mathew  finally settle for the real deal “a hair replacement procedure” and it looks totally natural even up close.
Hair Restoration is not just reserved for film and television stars. Politicians, fashion designers, musicians even top business executives now recognize the importance of hair to their image. Move Stars John Travolta and John Cleese filled in there fading hairline for a youthful looking hair style and you can also. Recent medical breakthroughs and lower costs has made what was once an expensive procedure affordable for anyone.

Having had this procedure myself and can tell you first hand that it was painless and was well worth the expense. Hair restoration is a simple out patent procedure that involves hair follicles being taken from the back and side of the head, where hair is naturally thickest and resistant to loss, and inserted seamlessly into the thinning spots for a totally natural look even up close.

With today’s modern technology, it's now possible to do something about it male hair loss. Hopefully, this information will help you to make a decision or at least gives you a starting point for your personal search. My procedure was done here in Hollywood by
Dr. Michael Elliott, the world's foremost hair restoration specialist, a true artist. For more information see

Hair loss is a state of mind, “if you don’t mind _ it doesn’t matter”.
